As a continuation High School, La Paloma differs from a regular high school in several aspects.  First, classes are much smaller, usually ranging from 15-20.  This allows for better individual help for the students. The school itself is also much smaller, with 150 students who come in one of two 3-hour sessions.  Credit requirements are the same, except La Paloma requires 40 fewer elective credits than a regular high school does (190 credits).

Yes.  All school districts in California have a continuation High School as part of their Alternative Education Program.
Students have journeyed to a variety of paths after graduating from La Paloma.  Many go on to Los Medanos College, Heald Business School, the Armed Forces or other job training programs, as well as full-time jobs. Several scholarships are awarded to Seniors every year to help them continue their education.
