Purpose of Program

The Youth Employment Opportunity Program is intended to provide services to youth, ages 15 through 21, to assist them in achieving their education, assessment, and peer advising. The services that have been identified to assist youth in attaining their goals are:

  • Peer advising
  • Referrals to supportive services
  • Job referrals and placement assistance
  • YEOP workshops
  • Referral to training

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible youth include those, ages 15-21, who are at risk of  not achieving their educational goals, such as potential dropouts and high school dropouts.
Some high risk characteristics include:
  • Youthful offender
  • Poor literacy skills
  • Teen parent
  • Limited English skills
  • Foster or homeless youth
  • Gang member/associate
  • Member of a minority group
  • Economically disadvantaged
