Science & Photography Day @ Big Break!
Scientists from the Marine Science Institute led activities to inform students about our water in the Delta.
Students were able to get hands on time with the scientist to do activities.
Jim's students had a environmental photography project to record characteristics of the delta and utilize learned compositional skills for picture taking.
Mallory Jones and Tom Lindemuth measure the amount of oxygen in the water.
These mechanical cable excavators used a 2-sided, hinged bucket to scoop sediment from the bottom of the water and deposite the marerial in a designated spot.
Tom Lindemuth and Joey Clemons discuss how the big break area was once farm land. It was reclaimed and flooded by delta waters circa 1922.
Tom shows off his meter. The instrument measures oxygen and turbidity levels in the water
